Maximum usage per 100 g icing. Lemon yellow - 463 mg/100 g Christmas red - 543 mg/100 g Sky blue - 295 mg/100 g Brown - 696 mg/100 g To colour icing 1. Start with enough icing to cover the entire area, as matching shades later may be difficult. 2. Dip a toothpick into the colour, then swirl it into white icing. 3. Add colour a little at a time until you achieve the shade you desire. Always use a new toothpick each time you add colour to keep icing out of your jar of colour. Blend icing well with a spatula. Hints: royal icing requires more colour than buttercream icing to achieve the same shade. After use, store tightly sealed in a cool, dry place. If colour dries out or is too thick, add a few drops of Wilton® Glycerin to restore proper consistency.
