Ingredients
- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup of white whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 6 tablespoons of cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of peeled and chopped apples
- 1 cup of powdered sugar

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with a silicone baking mat.Step 2
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.Step 3
Cut the cold butter into the dry mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.Step 4
In a separate small bowl, whisk the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour this into the flour mixture and stir just until combined.Step 5
Gently fold in the chopped apples.Step 6
Drop the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, using about 1/4 cup per fritter.Step 7
Bake for 11-13 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden.Step 8
Transfer the fritters to a wire rack and set the oven to broil.
For the glaze
Step 1
Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Add a dash of cinnamon for extra flavour!Step 2
Lightly brush the fritters with a thin layer of glaze and broil for 2-4 minutes, until the tops turn golden brown.Step 3
Once out of the oven, brush the remaining glaze over the warm fritters. Let the glaze set before serving.
