How to prepare Stove top 1. Prep rinse 450 g (2 cups) of pearl barley in a strainer under cold running water. Pour barley into a large pot and add 1.65 L (7 cups) of water or stock. 2. Cook bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 50-60 minutes or until most of the liquid has been absorbed and barley is tender. 3. Serve fluff the grains using a fork.
