How to prepare
Stove top
1. Prep rinse 450 g (2 cups) of pinto beans in a strainer under cold running water. Pour beans into a large pot and add 2 L (8 cups) of cold water. Soak overnight. Drain and add 1.5 L (6 cups) of fresh water.
2. Cook bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 60-90 minutes or until beans are tender.
3. Check for the desired tenderness before using beans in a recipe, as they will not soften any further.
