Mezzeta Jalapeño Stuffed Olives are one of the Mezzetta’s top-selling items. They use locally grown jalapeño peppers—shipped to a state-of-the-art Napa Valley facility and packed within twenty-four hours of harvest—whenever possible. The faster they are packed the more heat and fresh-picked flavour they retain. Jeff Mezzetta and the plant manager personally inspect each harvest to ensure that the peppers and olives are ripe, uniformly shaped and tender. For the olives, they use large Spanish-style olives, prized for their firm texture and buttery taste, imported from the sun-drenched Mediterranean. Because of a longstanding relationships with growers in Europe, Mezzetta is able to procure the finest quality olives from each harvest. Once the ingredients reach the production facility in Napa Valley, California, each olive is painstakingly hand stuffed with a jalapeño strip, resulting in a crisp savoury olive with just the right balance of heat and savoury olive flavour.
