Electric rice cooker cooking (4 servings)
Put 2 cups of rice in rice cooker pot, soak rice in 4 cups of water for 30 seconds, drain all water, rinse and drain 2 more times till water runs clear, drain all the rinse water.
Add 1¾ cups of water to the rinsed rice into the rice cooker, close lid and switch the rice cooker on. When rice cooker stops, allow rice to sit for 10 minutes before opening the lid. Mix the cooked rice with a spatula before serving.
Stove top cooking (4 servings)
Put 2 cups of rice in a pot, soak rice in 4 cups of water for 30 seconds. Drain all water, rinse and drain for 2 more times till water runs clear, drain all the rinse water.
Add 1¾ cups of water to rinsed rice into the pot and cover with a lid. Turn stove on medium to high heat till water and rice mixture boil. Keep boiling for 5 minutes and then reduce to medium heat and simmer rice for 10 minutes. (If you are cooking more than 2 cups of rice, increase the simmer time by 2 extra minutes per extra cup of rice).
Turn off stove, let the rice sit with the lid on for 10 minutes till rice absorbs moisture, becomes fluffy and cooked throughout. Use a spatula to mix rice before serving.
