Preparation And Usage
You will need:
3 large eggs
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup milk
⅓ cup vegetable oil
Butter and milk can be replaced with any non-dairy alternative
Classic Pound Cake
1 Heat oven to 350℉. Grease the bottom and sides of an 8" or 9" loaf pan. If using a disposable aluminum pan, divide the batter into two.
2 In a large bowl, beat cake mix and butter, until coarse crumbs form. Add the milk, oil and eggs, and mix until silky smooth. Pour into pan.
3 Bake 65-70 min., or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. If using two disposable aluminum pans, bake 45-55 min. Cool 10 minutes in pan, then cool completely on wire rack before serving.
4 Icing (optional): mix 1¼ cups powdered sugar, 2 tbsp milk and ½ tsp vanilla extract in small bowl, until smooth
Lemon Pound Cake
1 Follow recipe for Classic Pound Cake, adding zest of two lemons to cake batter. Bake as directed.
2 While cake is baking, prepare the lemon syrup and lemon icing. See recipes below.
3 Remove cake from oven and using a toothpick, poke many deep holes along the top of cake and pour lemon syrup over top, allowing the syrup to soak in.
4 Cool 10 minutes in pan, then cool completely on wire rack. Frost with lemon icing.

½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
Lemon Icing - mix ingredients together in small bowl
1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp + ½ tsp fresh lemon juice
